Chad Martin is an original rock singer song writer originally from Youngstown, Ohio.  Currently residing in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NYC Chad has come a long way from his roots in the Midwest.  Though his music is not incredibly similar to either artist, he often says he grew up between Dylan and Springsteen. 

To understand Chad's song writing, one first has to understand a little more about Chad.  Though he admires many artists, at the age of 15, he was already writing his own music.  At the time, he couldn't even play the guitar, but had a friend play music chord by chord to go with the music and lyrics in his mind.  By the time Chad started playing the guitar, he already had enough songs so that he could learn his way around the instrument by playing his own pieces.  Though of course he learned a few covers, Chad's writing was never done with the intention of emulation, which is the source of his unique sounds and diversity. 

Though his style strives to be unique and independent, all artists have outside influences.  Music, and language are not and cannot be created in a vacuum.  Chad's songwriting draws musically from numerous sources in classical and modern rock as well as blues and softer rock/folk. Lyrically, Chad is influenced primarily by great American poets (hence the "Live Oak Growing" allusion to Walt Whittman's writtings) and selected modern musical artists. However, his music is trademarked by his own use of imagery and multi-layered symbolism. Though he does have a handful of confessional pieces, Chad's primary focuses tend to be society vs the individual, the personal struggle for fulfillment, old vs new generations and his how he relates these topics. His main goal is to encapsulate personal reflections of and on life and society (not to be confused with politics), and he likes to focus on experiences in their entirety.  He labels his style as a kind of pensive rock, combining numerous catch melodies with intriguing vocals.

Chad has played at numerous venues,throughout New York City including the Bitterend, Sidewalk Cafe, and Washington Square Park.  Though music is his great passion in life, Chad also manages to pursue his other dreams through his career.  "If life were just music, I'd have nothing to write about".
